Job stability, state-of-the-art facilities, and opportunities for advancement are only part of the IHS advantage. USPHS commissioned officers and Civil Service professionals also enjoy the opportunity to move around the country without the limitations of licensing requirements in multiple states. And with no-cost malpractice coverage and no office expenses, IHS offers an exceptional opportunity to put your skills to work and pursue a career with a sense of purpose.
IHS Loan Repayment Program
IHS offers another significant financial benefit: the IHS Loan Repayment Program (IHS LRP), which can be applied to the repayment of your health profession education expenses.
Commissioned Corps, Civil Service and direct Tribal hire employees working for IHS or Tribal programs are eligible to apply for an LRP award. If you are selected as a recipient, you must agree to work for two continuous years (from the date the award is made) in a full-time clinical practice in your profession at an IHS facility, or in an approved Indian health program.
